I don't think I've realized just how much of an impact the wiki has had on my life until now.

Back in 2010, I joined Nitrome Wiki just wanting to be a contributor. I was midway through high school, and loved the idea of being able to write information about things I knew about - or at least thought I knew about. Nitrome games were a topic that I was invested in, and became the motivator to me playing and becoming more interested in Nitrome's wide range of games. This soon consumed my life, and I was constantly striving towards becoming a better editor.

With editing the wiki came the community. I started to meet and talk with other contributors or those who simply passed by. Wikia's then-new chat feature made it easier to talk to these users, some of whom became my friends. Others taught me invaluable lessons on how to run a wiki or manage a growing community, and while it was frustrating to hear about messing up or how my contributions weren't perfect, it ultimately motivated me into trying harder.

I think the most amazing things about being on this wiki is how much the community has changed. And by that, it feels like maybe not a lot has changed. There are users who joined around the same time I did that I still talk to to this day. I even joined a game jam team made up of users who have contributed to this wiki and was able to put my composing skills to use. Nitrome themselves has had a phenomenal impact on the way I listen to music and even the way I compose music.

When it feels like I've officially gone and left everything behind, it really just becomes a long break. I love this wiki too much to leave it. And I'm incredibly thankful for the way Nitrome and this wiki have led me to this point in my life.
