Red chests appear as a red-coloured treasure chest with grey borders and a gold lock. Flying red chests appear as a red chest with wings.

Game information[edit | edit source]

Chests can be opened and can contain helpful content.

Yellow chests[edit | edit source]

Yellow chests are primarily found in siderooms but can also be found in the main cavern area and can be opened by being hit with the Shovel Blade. Yellow treasure chests contain gems and one of the following items: a pink gem, Relic, Wooden Key, Glass Key, Metal Key, normal Egg, Glass Egg, Accessory. The pink gem is the most common item received from the chest.

Yellow chests also have a chance of containing a food pick-up when the Platter Charm Accessory or Scrounger's Suit is possessed and does not replace the item received from the chest. Both inventory items have a separate chance of causing food to spawn, meaning that if they both trigger two food items will be thrown out of a chest.

Grey chests[edit | edit source]

Incomplete section

This section is incomplete. You can help by adding the missing info. (Needed: Can grey chests have Accessories?)

Grey chests are only found in the main cavern area and can only be opened via a Wooden, Glass, or Metal Key or having their lock destroyed by an exploding bomb Boneclang head exploding very close to the chest. These chests contains gems and can also contain one of the following items: Health Upgrade, Magic Upgrade, Metal Key.

Red chests[edit | edit source]

Red chests are rarely found in the main cavern area and can contain one Accessory. They can be opened via a Shovel Drop or Shovel Slash.

Flying red chests[edit | edit source]

Flying red chests fly horizontally in a wavy motion and can fly through walls. These chests can only be encountered in the main cavern area and can be interacted with by being hit with a Shovel Slash, Shovel Drop, or being hit by the blue blorb Pet, which will cause them to release their contents. The chests contain gems, Magic Jars, and can also contain a Relic. These chests cannot fly into siderooms and can be hit with a Shovel Slash while inside a wall.

In Crystal Core, one flying treasure chest is always encountered and will always contain a Relic.
