Stat upgrades
Stat upgrades are pick-ups in Shovel Knight Dig.

Stat upgrades are rare standalone items found in The Well that increase either Shovel Knight's Health level or Magic level for that run. Stat upgrades are found in The Well and can be purchased from Chester, received from NPCs, obtained from grey chests or found in secret rooms accessed via a gate unlocked by a key. These secret rooms contain the item placed prominently in the room, many gems, and a unique object in the background. Stat upgrade prices vary according to world and increase in price the farther in a run Shovel Knight gets.

Health Upgrades[edit | edit source]
Health Upgrades[1] appear as the health icon in the pause menu and dig results screen. These items in pick-up form have red energy radiating from them. Health Upgrades increase Shovel Knight's max health by 1 HP (one bubble) or max health by 1 shield (Brittle Beetle Barbecue). They can be bought from Chester for the following prices: 575, 650, 725, 800 gems. Their description is: "Increase your maximum health by 1."
Health Upgrades can also be given out by Prospector, yellow Canary Scout, and Adventurers.
Magic Upgrades[edit | edit source]
Magic Upgrades[2] appear as the magic icon in the pause menu and in pick-up form have blue energy radiating from them. Magic Upgrades increase Shovel Knight's Magic level by one level and add one level worth of Magic Points. This increased Magic level is maintained across different Relics. Magic Upgrades can be bought from Chester for the following prices: 500, 525, 725 gems.
Magic Upgrades can be given out by Meleeist, Prospector, yellow Canary Scout, Caster.
