He does it again

Balloon (Game), Green, Hazards (Mega Mash), Interactive Objects (Silly Sausage). Last time I checked, that was more than three, the maximum allowed per user.

Plus, could we also enforce this rule about WIPs: the user has one week from the time they added the WIP template, not last edited it? Otherwise they could come and make little minor edits every week and hold the page for years. :/   Random-storykeeper 02:29, May 16, 2012 (UTC)

About the words, now I noticed that the right infobox has the same size and font size than the right infobox, so the words are shrunk the same as in the other one. It has only the style changed. A thing I found.

Hi, NTPYTO here. I found out that User:FinalNinja123 was deleted. If you scroll through his contributions, however, you will find that all of his edits were good ones. I understand that after being banned, this user probably left and will never come back, but I think he should be undeleted and unbanned. Infobox Game

RSK and I got Lee Nicklen's permission to add the Nitrome Music he made to the wiki. RSK got the music off his facebook page, while I worked on making the Infobox Game template have a music section. I edited the Infobox Game/test, and got it to work perfectly, then I edited the Infobox Game template. I tried it first in the sandbox, and it worked perfectly, but when I added it to Square Meal and Space Hopper, the music section doesn't show up. Here's the code I added:

I'm back and ready to edit

Hey NOBODY, I haven't been a very good admin lately since I haven't been editing on the week days or very much at all on the weekends. This was mostly due to 1. I was getting a little bit bored, and 2. I had become very addicted to this one site called ROBLOX. It is this fun site where you build games and play other games and customize your character. For the past month or two I have been playing that massivley, and neglegting my wiki duties. I'm sorry about this, and I want you to know that I have recently gotten bored of the site and stopped playing it, so I am back here to start editing as much as I can, just like what got me to be an admin in the first place. I also have no sports and little homework right now, so I should be able to edit during the week from 4:00 - 6:00 too.

Anyway, long story short: Sorry. Now I'm back. I can edit much more.

Actually, I'm quite confused

Don't galleries like these deserve to stay on the game pages? I mean, it's an image from the blog to do with the game. The point is, I am trying to reduce the number of unused files on the Wiki (ie. files that are uploaded here but aren't in use), as they'll just take up space without a purpose. So, seeing as that you removed and reverted some edits (like the one to Parasite (Character)), should I just delete these images? I have an interesting question about an article. I'm beginning to think that Pixel Hate needs an article. It poses a really good argument too. It IS a Nitrome game after all and IS on their website. We shouldn't have an article for each and every seprate game, but maybe instead; we have an article for each month's games.

Two things (important)

Hello, NTPYTO here. First, I wanted to ask for your permission to do something. I have found several places where IP's are visible. May I have your permission to edit talk pages with IP's on them? I won't remove the messages, just the links and evidence of IP's. I know that by doing this I will let it be visible to everybody on the Recent Wiki Activity, but I don't think any of the users here will interfere/phish. But, if we never do this, a user might come who does care and will try to find IP's for his own use. I will also ask Santi, since he is the other B-crat.

Second, I ask your permission to add a new section to game pages. I would like to add a reviews section. Who needs one when you can say two?

1. I was writing Tiles (Magneboy), and wasn't too sure how to organize all the pictures. When it came to the pictures, I decided to put them into a gallery rather than using infoboxes. Since I separated the tiles into two categories: magnetic and non-magnetic, I was also going to keep the galleries separate too. When The Nitrome Yeti changed the subheading, however, I thought maybe I got the style for galleries wrong. Should I combine both categories of tiles into one gallery, or keep them separate?
2. I saw this edit made to the main page, and I think there should be two separate categories for linking Wikis. One should be for affiliates, meaning Wikis that don't exactly concern Nitrome and are not run by the same admins of Nitrome Wiki. The other should be for "sister sites", such as Nitrome Fanfiction Wiki and Nitrome Pixel Love Wiki. Both of these are basically run by the same users, and they interchange the same templates and policies. If not, I believe it would be better for Pixel Love to show up on the main page as to advertise itself to more users that can help out there.

Also, I didn't want to organize every tile on the Magneboy tiles page into the subheadings "Appearance" and "Game Information", because I figured they might as well be separate articles if that would be so.   Random-storykeeper 05:48, June 17, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Pixel World

Oh, it's my test wiki in general. There I test codes before adding them to this wiki or other wikis. I made it some weeks after creating the account, I wanted to create a "comunity", but now I use it as a test wiki.
About the custom, yes, I wanted that, and right now I thought that we could do something like this, but with "Pixel Love:", but a separate wiki is better, I think. :)

P.S Don't delete that picture I put on the Eskimo page. It is not a spoiler image. Everyone already knows the Eskimo is a girl because we refer to her as "she" in all the articles. I didn't put the rest of the background, so it is not spoiling anything.

WIP + something about lists

Okay, first, the WIP issue. You've established the rule that a user can hold a page with the WIP template for a week after the template is added and not from the time they last edited. So now, if a week passes and the user has to remove the template, how long should they wait until they are allowed to put it back up on that same page? That doesn't seem to be on Template:WIP/Rules yet.

And about the tiny headings on lists - I never really thought having sub-subheading sections were worth it if they only had a single sentence, which is the case I see with some of the list pages. I understand you're doing your best to prepare them for a split, but I think the entire purpose of list pages is that the components are too tiny to have the "Appearance" and "Game Information" sections, which is basically why the two would be merged and put under a list.

Besides, if you believed that interactive objects in a certain game should be separate articles, why not start them out as separate articles and then merge them afterwards? That way, each page title can become a redirect. The other way around, the list page basically becomes a link dump (example Hazards (Mega Mash)), with all headings pretty much pointing to other links, and it seems as though pages have no point when left in this state.   Random-storykeeper 05:04, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

You probably could have seen this coming from me, but the best way to get around this is to establish a rule, while maintaining the user's ability to apply common sense. I do use recent changes because

1. It is in a very convienent place to click (unlike recent changes).

2. It is less confusing.

The recent changes have a bunch of numbers and extra stuff next to every edit. If you can teach me how to use the Recent Changes better, I might start using it.

RE:Tense

Yeah, I know what tense is, and the weird thing is that I've been noticing myself too. When I am writing articles I say to myself "That dosen't sound right. It seems like I'm doing present tense or first-person or something. But I'm not saying 'you' or anything. Hm" And then I erase and try again but it still sounds wrong so I just give up :/. I'll try to work on my tense, and fix it myself next time, and thank you for notifying me.

Silly Sausage enemies vs hazards

What characteristics did you use to determine which hazards in Silly Sausage should be considered enemies? Why aren't moving spike diamonds considered enemies, then? Should I try splitting all enemy articles or just keeping them in a list?   Random-storykeeper 03:45, June 22, 2012 (UTC)

Keepin' files

When you said I could delete files in Special:UnusedFiles, did I have to save the ones on User:NOBODY/Keepin' files? I think that the file URL gets saved even after the image is deleted, but I could very well be wrong. Oops. I just tested out a URL with a deleted file and it seems as though the URL gets deleted as the file does, too. If you really want to keep files, I highly suggest adding the actual image on the page, as it will take them off Special:UnusedFiles (and if not, it will at least tell which pages the picture is on).   Random-storykeeper 04:35, June 24, 2012 (UTC)

The problem is with the JS

Robotic fish ship

My apologies. I was the one who agreed with Lilonow on him renaming the mystical flying fish page to robotic fish ship. For some strange reason, I thought Nitrome did call it a robotic fish ship. I'll have to remember where I heard that name.

Me and Frosty wanted to request if you could make us Chat Mods. I feel this wiki needs more active Mods and We've also met all required conditions for becoming Mods. So, could you make us Chat Mod? It would really help this wiki. We don't know when a new user may come up and there has to be someone who isn't very busy looking after the chat, you know. A lack of evidence does not mean the absence therefore. Secondly, prevention is better than cure. We from the other side of the world need a chatmod to ensure our safety in chat too.

I support chat-modding Atom. Atom has proved that he is a responsible user in chat, maintaining his decorum therin. Moreover, since Atom lives in Asia, it is an added bonus as he is at the other side of the world, wherby he can keep check of our chat while America and Europe is asleep. In addition, yes, I recommend so, that we have active chat moderators.

The edit wasn't vandalism. It was just a user who wrote a sentence that was relevant to the page's topic. I think they were trying to help out. The least that could be done was rewrite the sentence and mark the page as a stub. There's nothing wrong with creating a stub. In fact, it could even be beneficial to the Wiki as it will encourage users to join by editing to expand the stub. A major problem

This morning, I renamed Furry Worms to furry worms. When I renamed, however, I realized that the title didn't change. I tried renaming again, but what I ended up doing was renaming a redirect page. Now all the content for furry worms seems to have disappeared, and I can't seem to find it. I really don't know what happened, and I'm doing my best to fix the problem. Hacked?!

So basically, I think my "friend" Okairus was using me for storage space. He gave me the shiny Victini and a shiny Genesect. I knew something was fishy. I thought he used the "soft reset" trick, which is often used on Youtube to obtain legit shinies. I would have never cheated to obtain a Pokemon, but get it in an Event. I have a legit Victini from the movie event. Another friend wants it for an AR Shiny Reshiram (looks like it's wearing gold) and I want a shiny Reshiram, but I don't want to give him my Event Victini. We can have a battle anytime you like. Oh, Heavens no!

I don't use the shinies that my "friend" gave me because he doesn't want me to change their moves. All of my other Pokemon are legit. I have an Ampharos named Morgan who came from Pokemon Emerald. You can tell because it says "After Long Time Travel". Otherwise, foreign Pokemon (of other generations besides 5) on my Black game will either be from Swarms (called "outbreaks" on billboards) or Poketransfered from D/P/Pt/HG/SS. My other friend gave me an Action Replay for my birthday (January 5th), but I never used it, and I don't plan on doing so. Thanks for showing me "the road"

I do know that <youtube></youtube> tags can be used to embed videos. In fact, I first used them when writing the levels section for Mallet Mania, as seen here. I realized that there was another way of embedding videos and that the feature had recently been updated, so I thought of giving it a chance. It is a bit buggy, considering if you adjust the settings, the video is not embedded into the article and you have to manually add it by the title. The one thing I do like is that videos uploaded on the Wiki will be treated as pictures, so you can use wikitext easier to adjust the size, and you can also put videos in photo galleries with the feature.

Other than that, you are absolutely right. It does take a lot more time than pasting the URL. And there is only so much time.

Thanks for your message. I am glad you want to help fix up each individual mainspace article, and I will help you to the best of my ability.

Thanks to the many users, a lot of pages have already been renamed to the proper renaming style. However, I get the feeling that there's quite a few out there that still have yet to be renamed. I would like the project to continue to help enforce this.

What I don't understand is why both projects simply can't run together. Special:AllPages signifies redirects in italics, and this is quite visible on the page. It's not like you have to click each individual link and hope that you didn't waste three seconds waiting on a redirect. Next, if I suddenly halt this rename project, allowing yours to "finish up", chances are, it will never finish because Nitrome's just going to release more games, meaning more articles created. Basically, you don't have a definite time of when this project will be complete, and I strongly believe it will be highly difficult to complete, even if a project was put together to work on the 2,609 articles.

I'm not demeaning your project at all, and I'm not saying that mine is more important. It will probably be a lot more easier to complete than yours, however. And if we can help get all that aside, then you will be able to carry forth with your project and not worry about redirects. It seems like both of them can still work together, perhaps alongside each other. If anything, pages in Category:Articles in need of rewriting and Category:Article stubs should take first priority in terms of articles needing to be fixed. If you can incorporate that into a project, then you won't need to worry about Special:AllPages, as combing through each individual mainspace here is like trying to fix what doesn't need to be fixed yet.   Random-storykeeper 23:23, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

Actually, placing a project on hold, or having 2 projects run simultaneously in full force may not be a good idea. If we have looked at previous important projects, such as images requiring transparency and template colouring, the projects were not carried to completion, with participation gradually falling after the initial few months. Should we put a project on hold, participation may plunge. In addition, with only 13 major active users(according to Takeshi), having our manpower divided between two projects in full force would effectively split attention between the two competing projects(for our commitment).

I'm not certain how much longer until the project ends, but the sooner all pages are renamed, then the faster it will end. I'll also need your help to change links on pages, rename them or edit a game page's templates. The sooner all (or almost all) pages have been properly renamed, the sooner you can start your project.

While I do see SQhi's point, I don't wholly agree with it. Multiple projects can run on Wikis at a time, and multitasking is essential to get things done faster. The two projects deal with different aspects of the Wiki as well. Project Rename is about renaming pages so they fit with the proper titling style mentioned in detail on Forum:Capitalisation. Yours focuses on the throrough reading and maintenance of each mainspace page. I won't argue this any further, but it is my response to that.

Just think: kicking back and not helping out with renaming pages means that your planned project can't start sooner. The quicker the community can be to rename pages, the sooner your project can start. I'm not asking you to spend all your time finding and renaming pages, but it would be nice for once to see the head admin lend a hand in a community project he didn't initiate.   Random-storykeeper 04:59, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for renaming some of the pages! I see you're already carrying through with your review project, but there's a bit more revising needed for most of the pages.

As article titles are being renamed to match with Forum:Capitalisation, so too should section names and categories. When your project starts (or I see it's already starting, considering the edit I mentioned in the subject), also be sure to decapitalize the i now in Game information. If possible, categories with names such as "Main Games" should become Category:Main games and soforth. Recurring Enemies becomes Recurring enemies, and soforth. Game names don't need to be renamed, as they are proper nouns.

I saw at Templates Wiki a good template that can be used replacing the current templates and it's easier to edit, and looks so good. P-P-Protect

Do you think Nitrome Wiki's reached the point yet where articles on newly released games are considered to be "high traffic" pages? I wanted to suggest protecting newly released game pages, restricting it to sysops and registered users only, and only for a week. That way, it will be a lot easier to monitor changes made to the page, and also encourage unregistered users to create accounts. Remember

When renaming pages, it's not just about whether they were named or not, it's whether Nitrome capitalises them in the game or not. If all block letters, then it just comes down to common sense. Discussing makes the world go round

If an edit is not vandalism or of your own mistake, using the rollback tool probably isn't the best idea. Especially since Not the person you're thinking of added a reason to the deletion template, it needs to be discussed first, either on Talk:Tournaments or Category talk:Candidates for deletion. I've seen you remove the templates multiple times without ever bringing them up for discussion, unless you were asked to (like 3D Game Tech Demo and Giant Tree Planet). Except when Template:Delete is added: a) without a reason or b) the reason itself is irrelevant to the page, like adding {{delete|I like food!}}, don't remove delete templates you disagree with without bringing them up for discussion first. Yeah, we need to come to a consensus on bigger decisions like that before we take action. If the page was well written or relevant like Jack Frost (Character) or something, then you don't have to discuss taking off the template (because obviously that page is important). I think you'd better remove badges

Suppose that Nitrome stops making games, and there's no more information to add to the wiki, there would be no way to get badges on the wiki. Read this.

So the badges would be like saying:

"You suck for not being able to do 500 useful edits"

"You suck for not being able to add 500 useful images"

"You suck for not being able to add 250 pages to categories"

"You suck for not contributing every day of the year"

"You suck for not being able to rewrite 500 articles in need of rewriting"

"You suck for not being able to do 100 useful edits in a day"

That's not exactly something to be worried about. Many pages alone are already missing content, and it would still take a lot of users to expand 89 pages in Category:Article stubs, or rewrite 22 articles in Category:Articles in need of rewriting. Combine that together with Category:Article needs walkthrough and Category:Article needs image and you've got an array of 111 pages to choose from, which is a large number, considering the relatively small number of users who edit here. Not very far at all. The first time I played, I jumped right into the dog ship and it said I completed the game with 0 puppies saved. I knew there had to be more to it than that, so I replayed, but it didn't seem to grasp my interest. I stopped at the area where the mirror block that switches direction of a bullet is, and can't figure out how to go on from there. Swapping JS code

May I swap out our old show/hide.js for the one on Dev Wiki? I suggest you to read all the posts in the thread. You said the personal images of yours are being used on pages, but which pages, exactly? It says on both file pages that they are not being used on any page, and even Special:WhatLinksHere says nothing links to them. Graveyard Shift - Shield fix

Hi NOBODY! Did you ever mention something about a shield problem with Graveyard Shift in Google Chrome? Or am I getting confused? Blocking

Concerning the warnings to block Alfex, consider this. This user's instances of "badge spamming" have only occured in two places: the user's blog post and his userpage. It seems as though the user has only edited their userpage so far to try and achieve badges. Blocking seems a bit extreme, seeing that Alfex hasn't done this act to other mainspace pages; some fine edits have been done on the Skywire page, for example. If Alfex was doing what he did on multiple pages, or the user was doing it so frequently that it floods Special:RecentChanges (which it is not at the moment), then a block might be ideal. But if it were just the userpage...perhaps just locking it temporarily will do, at the most. That way, the user still has a chance to edit mainspace pages, because it is quite clear the user is capable of doing so. The main issue here is not because Alfex is trying to earn badges. Alfex's spamming is a form of gaming the system, a term we had heard Bluefire introduce before. Maybe we should ask Bluefire to have a small talk with Alfex.

Well, Mr. Morrish, who made Super Puzzle Platformer, made 3 tweets (on twitter) about how we blocked him on the Pixel Love wiki for no reason, and in the third tweet, he asked NItrome to remove Super Puzzle Platformer from their website, thinking they were associated. Nitrome told him we weren't, but they would talk to us, so all of us agreed we should talk to them first, since there are a lot of people on the wiki. But never mind, SQhi posted something telling Mr. Morrish to come to the wiki to resolve it, because Nitrome had nothing to do with it. It's fine now, just no one's replied. We've explained how it was easily interpreted as vandalism accidentally, it's not your fault. NTPYTO also left a message on his talk explaining how it got messed up.

Wiki love badges

There's a reason user pages, blog posts and talk pages count for wiki love badges. If they didn't users would be forced to reserve their useful contributions and do only one per day, except the day they try to get caffeinated (I think wiki love badges are stupid, though).
