The coal toss is the player's primary attack in Steamlands. It is used a few times during the start of the game, but rarely used later on due to the presence of guns in every level.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
The engineer picks up coal with his shovel and flings it.
Game information[edit | edit source]
The coal toss involves the player's engineer chucking hot coal from their engine room in a steep arc at the enemy.
This attack does little damage, and is generally used only as a last resort, as when the player uses it, their tank stops moving and all steam powered objects cease to function (guns, man blocks, etc.).
This leaves the player open for attack, and usually should only be used if the player has no other weapons to use; using guns is almost always a better option than coal toss.
Enemy engineers will toss coal if their tanks have no guns.
In early levels, coal toss deals 10 damage, and in later levels deals 30.
It is one of two weapons that are not categorized as guns, the other being the Valentine gun.
